ADHD Support for Adults
Medication, time management, and weekly support from a licensed provider dedicated to you.
Meet Dr. Inez, PMHNP-BC
Hi, I'm Dr. Janine Inez, DNP, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner trained at Columbia University. I work with adults 18 to 65 who were diagnosed with ADHD young, diagnosed later in life, or are still wondering if they have ADHD. As a queer Black woman and the child of Jamaican immigrants, I know how often traditional mental healthcare has overlooked people whose struggles don't fit textbook definitions of neurodivergence. I believe a good provider spends the time to get to know an individual, then walks beside them on their unique healing journey.
You’re not lazy. Your mind just works differently. Together we can figure out how to make it work for you.
You’ll receive a thorough evaluation that takes adult and atypical presentations seriously, as well as considers other potential diagnoses.
Then we will craft an individualized medication plan that fits your needs and adjust it as we go.
We’ll work together to build time management and follow-through skills that last and stay flexible as your life needs change.
We’ll use behavioral activation skills to break through paralysis and get moving on what matters to you.
You’ll benefit from the convenience of weekly support for medication and skills in one visit.
Finally, we’ll shape a story about your mind that feels true to you, one that challenges societal discourses about motivation or intelligence.

FAQ
Why did my ADHD get missed?
Diagnostic criteria in the United States have long minimized the needs of adults, women, and people whose ADHD looks like something else. My practice is dedicated to finding out what's really happening for you and the best way to treat it. As well, some groups of people struggle with utilizing mental health services even if they have a diagnosis. My goal is to make care accessible regardless of culture or upbringing.
Do I need a diagnosis before I talk to you?
No. A comprehensive evaluation will help us understand whether ADHD is the diagnosis that fits your experience. Your diagnosis does not determine who you are. We use it to guide your treatment and to bill insurance.
Do you prescribe ADHD medication?
Yes, when it's clinically appropriate. I'm licensed and DEA-certified in California, New York, and Oregon.
Do you offer non-pharmaceutical medicines for ADHD?
There are some complementary and alternative medication options for ADHD, which I am more than happy to discuss and explore with you.
Why frequent sessions?
ADHD coaching works well with steady, high-touch support. Regular visits let us fine-tune medication, build skills quickly, and provide consistent accountability.
How long are sessions?
Insurance-billed sessions are 30 minutes. Intakes run 60 to 90 minutes. Out-of-pocket sessions range from 30 to 60 minutes.
Are you a fit for me?
I work with adults 18 to 65. I don't currently treat active addiction, psychosis, or bipolar disorder, and I'm happy to help point you toward the right care. I love to treat populations of artists, queer/LGBTQIA+, students, and emergent adults.
Can I meet online?
Yes. I offer telehealth in California, New York, and Oregon, and in-person sessions in Oakland.
I’m scared I’m just lazy. Can you still help me?
Yes. A thousand times yes. And one of the first things we’ll work on is helping you understand that you are not lazy, you just need support.
Whether you were diagnosed young or well into adulthood, let's work together to find the best treatment for you and your mind.
