OCD Care For Adults
Intrusive thoughts and fears can be incredibly difficult to live with. You don't have to walk that path alone.
Meet Dr. Inez, PMHNP-BC
Hi, I'm Dr. Janine Inez, DNP, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner trained at Columbia University. I work with adults 18 to 65 living with OCD, whether it shows up as checking, counting, reassurance-seeking, or thoughts that get triggered around health, harm, or fear of rejection. I’ve worked intimately with individuals who live with anxious rumination and compulsions of many kinds. I believe a good provider spends the time to get to know the fears underlying OCD thoughts and teaches an individual how to uproot and resolve or accept them.
There can be relief. Let’s work together to find it for you.
You’ll receive a thorough evaluation for OCD, as well as other potential diagnoses.
Then we will craft an individualized medication plan that fits your needs and adjust it as we go.
We’ll work on ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention), the gold-standard therapy for OCD.
Over time, you’ll loosen the grip of compulsions and rituals and develop mindful awareness of when anxious rumination kicks in.
You’ll benefit from the convenience of regular support for medication and skills in one visit.
Finally, you’ll build a new relationship with the fears that have been plaguing you and take back the wheel of your life.

FAQ
What is ERP?
Exposure and Response Prevention is an evidence-based behavioral therapy technique that helps you face feared thoughts and situations step by step, without doing the compulsion. Over time, the fear loses its power. We go at a pace that feels manageable, with worksheets to track how your distress decreases as you do the work.
Do I need a diagnosis before I talk to you?
No. A comprehensive evaluation will help us understand whether OCD is the diagnosis that fits your experience. Your diagnosis does not determine who you are. We use it to guide your treatment and to bill insurance.
Why did my OCD get missed?
OCD is often misunderstood as neatness or worry. Many people live with intrusive thoughts for years without knowing they have a name. Often there is an overlap with OCD and other types of anxiety. My practice is dedicated to finding out what's really going on for you.
Do you offer non-pharmaceutical medicines for OCD?
There are some complementary and alternative medication options for anxiety but not OCD specifically, which I am more than happy to discuss and explore with you.
Why frequent sessions?
ERP works best with consistent practice. Frequent sessions keep momentum going and let us adjust medication as you progress.
How long are sessions?
Insurance-billed sessions are 30 minutes. Intakes run 60 to 90 minutes. Out-of-pocket sessions range from 30 to 60 minutes.
Are you a fit for me?
I work with adults 18 to 65. I don't currently treat active addiction, psychosis, or bipolar disorder, and I'm happy to help point you toward the right care. I love to treat populations of artists, queer/LGBTQIA+ people, students, and emergent adults.
Can I meet online?
Yes. I offer telehealth in California, New York, and Oregon, and in-person sessions in Oakland.
What if I never stop having intrusive thoughts?
You don’t need to completely eradicate intrusive thoughts to live a happy, healthy, fulfilled life. Many individuals learn to witness and release painful intrusive thoughts that persist, to the point of barely noticing them at all.
Your thoughts don't have to run your life. Let's take the first step together.
