Tired of the worrying voice in your head that doesn't respond to logic or reason and never seems to sleep? I can help.

Meet Dr. Inez, PMHNP-BC

Hi, I'm Dr. Janine Inez, DNP, PMHNP-BC, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner trained at Columbia University. I've worked for years with adults living with anxiety, and I know how challenging and exhausting it is. Prolonged exposure to the stress of anxiety, whether loud or quiet, can have significant negative impact on your long-term health. As a provider, I’m committed to understanding your story and all the contributing factors that may be causing your anxiety.

Stress can be managed and reduced. We’ll find a way out of physical and mental anxiety that works for you.

How Working With Me Can Help You and Your OCD

You’ll receive a thorough evaluation for anxiety disorders, as well as other potential diagnoses.

Then we will craft an individualized medication plan that fits your needs and adjust it as we go.

We’ll learn practical tools to manage worry in the moment, challenge distressing ways of thinking, and ground existential fears in reality while cultivating compassion for any parts of you that might be suffering.

We’ll explore the parts of you that worry through IFS (Parts Work), SoulCollageTM, and find a way to unburden them appropriately.

You’ll benefit from the convenience of regular support for medication and skills in one visit.

Finally, you will rewrite the stories anxiety tells you using narrative therapy techniques to build your life worth living.

"I've found Dr. Inez to be the most helpful, knowledgeable, and invested mental health professional I've worked with."

"I was hesitant about medication... A major part of our work has been loosening my black-and-white thinking and learning to see life in shades of gray, which has been incredibly helpful to me."

"I've noticed I'm much gentler with myself and more willing to get curious about what's happening with my parts, rather than immediately jumping to self-criticism."

"Don't overthink it. Just show up and be open to the possibility that there are different and more helpful ways of seeing life, and Dr. Inez will show you."

FAQ

What does treatment look like?

We combine medication management with psychotherapy. Depending on what fits you, therapy may include narrative work, IFS Parts Work, or practical skills for managing worry. Not everyone needs medication for anxiety, but many people benefit from exploring all their options. Regardless of the path you choose, our work will be high-touch and tailored for your specific needs.

Do you prescribe benzodiazepines?

I have for short-term use with panic, but I don't prescribe benzodiazepines for anxiety, since there's little evidence for their long-term effectiveness. I prefer to focus on treatments built to help you over time, with the least amount of risk or side effects.

Do you offer non-pharmaceutical medicines for anxiety?

There are many complementary and alternative medication options for anxiety, and I would be thrilled to explore them with you.

Why frequent sessions?

Steady support helps you build skills faster and lets us adjust medication as you go. I also find that anxiety management benefits from a sense of safety and strong rapport, which regular sessions provide.

How long are sessions?

Insurance-billed sessions are 30 minutes. Intakes run 60 to 90 minutes. Out-of-pocket sessions range from 30 to 60 minutes.

Are you a fit for me?

I work with adults 18 to 65. I don't currently treat active addiction, psychosis, or bipolar disorder, and I'm happy to help point you toward the right care. I love treating artists, queer/LGBTQIA+ people, students, and emergent adults.

Can I meet online?

Yes. I offer telehealth in California, New York, and Oregon, and in-person sessions in Oakland.

What if I’m just going through a hard time and that’s why I’m anxious?

Whether your anxiety is chronic or temporary distress due to life circumstances, I'd be honored to help you build the skills and tools to navigate life’s challenges and find a way to flourish.

You don’t have to keep carrying this alone. Let’s find what works for you.
